The Mediterranean diet has increased in popularity thanks to its well researched benefits. It is primarily known for its benefits in not only reducing your risk of developing heart disease, but also improving your heart health even if you already have established heart disease.

The Mediterranean diet is the traditional eating pattern of people from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and is high in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Aside from heart health it can help manage type 2 diabetes and its complications, inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, protects against some cancers and can slow cognitive decline.
